Hello ConvenienceBigs,
Happy New Year! I hope you're enjoying your January so far! This the time of year when you should map out your travel hacking goals so you can figure out what points you need and what cards to get! Planning is the key to success!
There are a few points deals and changes happening I want to tell you about:
First, the Chase Sapphire Reserve increased its yearly fee from $450 to $550. That's a lot for one card. Is it worth it? I still think the card is worth it for new members because the welcome fee makes it worth the cost. But, if you're thinking about renewing and aren't a heavy traveler, Lyft user (the increased fee comes up a Lyft partnership), or eat out a lot, the higher fee probably isn't worth it and you should downgrade to the lower fee version. You have to do the math but, in my opinion, the increased fee isn't worth it for the majority of people out there.
Second, the yearly fee for all the Delta cards is going up at the end of the month so be sure to apply before 1/30. I'm a Delta guy and, though their points program is terrible, it's easy to get points with them and you can spend your way to status via their cards!
Third, there's some good hotel and airline offers happening this month and I added new cards for United, Hyatt, and American Airlines to our suggested card page.
You can find all my current favorite card deals by clicking here.
That's it today! If you need anything, please feel free to ask.
Sincerely,
Nomadic Matt
