Texas scaled back a hike in hemp fees. Businesses say they're still too high.

Texas regulators scaled back their plan to impose massive fee hikes on hemp producers in the state, but the industry still says the new fees could take a big toll on their business and has sued to stop them from taking effect.

Also: Texas issued sweeping new regulations on the hemp industry last month, including a ban on smokable products and steep license fees. Notably absent was any attempt to restrict hemp packaging in ways that appeal to children.

Residents of The Woodlands and points north should be aware that the southbound lanes of the Hardy Toll Road will be closed for much of the day Saturday. The road will provide some of the setting for the annual Ironman race, the 16th year it has been in The Woodlands.
