Pollen season is here. Keep an eye on it with our pollen tracker.
I absolutely adore trees. I never cease to be amazed by their majestic beauty. I am in constant awe of their elegance and the sound the wind makes as it blows through their branches.
That being said, they have the most disrespectful means of procreation of any living thing on the planet.
Love is in the air for trees — quite literally — and we're all suffering for it. It's pollen season, and my beloved flora is currently dumping around 1,000 grains per cubic meter of air into our lungs and blanketing every outdoor surface with a lovely shade of mustard yellow. Trying to drive anywhere feels like I'm following the yellow brick road on my way to Oz.
This is especially bad news for allergy sufferers.
While there's really nothing anyone can do about pollen, the Chronicle has been diligent in its coverage of how to cope with this inconsiderate arboreal phenomenon. Our pollen count tracker, especially, might be your new best friend until pollen season wanes.
There's something ironic about the fact that trees give us oxygen but suffocate us every time they reproduce. If you have pollen allergies, you have my deepest sympathy. If you'd like to complain about it, shoot me an email, and we'll chat about it.
